A Fortress which did not fight

A calssic building of the Kherson Fort Arsenal, constituted on the order of  empress Catherine the great in 1784-1788, is situated near st. Catherine's cathedral (one of the earliest churches in new Russia). unfortunately, the architectural ensemble of the present day fortress includes not too much: Moscow and Ochakov Gates (photo below) with the adjoined bastions, old fortress well, main Arsenal building itself (left photo) and the Powder Magazine.
